This year we will see a vast array of smart phones hitting the marketplace. Many will come with new innovations and technology that seems to be improving all the time. A couple of years ago that smart phone was simply an expensive cell phone that many people could not afford or did not want to know about. The change really happens when Apple introduced the iPhone to the masses and now many more manufacturers are following suit offering touchscreen phones with bigger screens, bigger cameras, more applications at a vastly reduced price compared to what you would have paid.
This is really working out well for cell phone manufacturers because they are now tapping into the downloadable applications market which is driving extra revenue for them. No longer are they simply producing the handsets they are producing operating systems and also a vast array of applications like social networking (Facebook, twitter, MySpace) fitness applications, music applications, educational applications you name it you can probably get it.
They have really changed the way we communicate we have instant access to the Internet. We have instant access to e-mail. One of the main advantages I also think his touchscreen because this allows you to interact easily with the various applications that you're using on your phone. Many systems have become much easier to navigate and it's simple to find contacts and all their associated information like e-mail social networking details easily.
We are definitely moving into an era of more content-based driven information on our cell phones. We have instant access to news, weather that could only have been dreamt of a few years ago. Of course there is a case as to whether we are having too much information overload and this is a good question. I definitely think we should embrace the smart phone era as it is helping in the communication needs for many people. Technology has improved and it only makes you wonder what we will have in a few years time.
Many of the leading manufacturers like Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and LG will have many different types of smart phones available this year. They will more than likely have a range of operating systems giving the users an opportunity to purchase a phone with the menu-driven system that they prefer. We are also seeing pricing come down as the world economy is in a little bit of turmoil. This is obviously good for consumers because it means that we are getting value for money.
